Florida Authors Publish Anthology Reworking the Classics

The Masters Reimagined, a new short-story anthology, debuts this week at the Florida Writers Association’s Annual Florida Writer’s Conference in Altamonte Springs. The book features ten short stories by award-winning Florida authors who reimagine literary masterpieces by adding touches of science fiction, fantasy, and mischief.

Produced by The Alvarium Experiment, a consortium of Florida-based authors, and published by Blue Beech Press, The Masters Reimagined offers new takes, resets, sequels, or homages to the great works of Joyce, Tolstoy, Capote, and many more.

Scott Michael Powers, an Orlando resident and author of The Roswell Swatch, contributed to the anthology with the short story “The Brazilian Millionaire’s Butler” crafting a noir inspired by Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

The Masters Reimagined will be debuted at the 16th annual Florida Writers Association’s Annual Florida Writer’s Conference, Oct. 19-22, at the Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs, 350 Northlake Blvd., Altamonte Springs.

Several of the authors of The Masters Reimagined will be present at the FWA conference.  “I think what’s most exciting about this project is that all of these truly talented writers got together and came up with this wild, ambitious and fun idea to collaborate on themed short story collections,” remarked Scott Michael Powers to the Orlando Political Observer.  He further stated that “It’s a writer’s dream opportunity. And I think readers will love what we all came up with.”

The Masters Reimagined will be available to the public Nov. 1 through Amazon.com at $14.99. Preorders will be available at the FWA conference for just $12. Each individual story also is available now as a stand-alone, digital, Kindle download for 99 cents apiece.
