Democratic candidate Gwen Graham announced the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers is supporting her campaign for governor.
“Gwen Graham has devoted her career to fighting to make life better for working-class people, “said Jay Smith, Local 8 SE President. “Working people need a voice who understands how difficult it is today for working families. Gwen Graham entered this race for Florida’s working-class families and she is exactly the leader we need in Florida.”
The Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers is the third major union to endorse Graham in the race for governor, joining the United Steelworkers and Machinists which endorsed Graham this summer.
In Congress, Graham co-sponsored legislation to raise the minimum wage, opposed the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, and authored the bipartisan Middle STEP Act to expand technical education. She is the only Democratic candidate for governor to earn union endorsements.
“Two decades of one-party rule in Tallahassee have forgotten about the working men and women who built our state and drive our economy,” Graham said. “As governor, I will fight for a prevailing wage. We will create new jobs, grow the middle class and expand technical education and trade apprenticeships in our schools so today’s students are ready to work in tomorrow’s industries.”
