Seminole County Needs Volunteers Needed to Assist With Homeless Population Count

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL (January 4, 2018)- Seminole County and its partner agencies are preparing for the 2018 Point In Time (PIT) Count, a one-night census of all individuals experiencing homelessness. In an effort to obtain the most accurate count, volunteers are needed to perform the PIT Count on the evening of Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

Volunteers should attend a training session prior to the PIT Count, which will take place at Seminole County Community Services, 534 W. Lake Mary Boulevard in Sanford, on January 17, 2018. Two sessions are offered, one from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and another from 7:00-8:00p.m.; volunteers should plan on attending one training session. The training will provide an overview of the PIT Count, a review of the survey, survey team roles, how to make contact if a homeless individual is identified, and other scenarios which volunteers may encounter. Volunteers may register by visiting Please note, all volunteers should be 18 years of age to participate.

The PIT Count provides service organizations focused on homelessness prevention with a count of homeless citizens each year; the goal is to experience a decrease in the number of unsheltered individuals and ultimately, end homelessness for our most vulnerable citizens.
