U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy of Central Florida will host a fellow Congressman this weekend at UCF. Rep. Murphy will host Jack Bergman, R-Mich., her fellow U.S. Congress member across the aisle.
Murphy hopes the meet will help promote bipartisan cooperation in Congress. She also plans to discuss issues important to the lives of families in this country, as well as to the people they both represent.
Murphy represents Florida’s Seventh Congressional District. This particular district represents all of Seminole County and much of northern Orange County. Murphy was a businesswoman and college instructor before being elected. She has a Master’s in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s in Economics from the College of William and Mary.
Bergman is a retired three-star general in the United States Marine Corps. In particular, Bergman is the highest ranking military officer to ever serve in Congress. He is also a member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, where he serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. They hold the Department of Veterans Affairs and other agencies accountable for the service provided to veterans.
This weekend on Saturday January 6, they will tour Florida’s Seventh Congressional District. At 3pm they plan to tour the UCF Veterans Academic Resource Center at. Murphy is expected to visit Bergman’s Michigan district later in the year.
