U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy of Winter Park, Fla., delivered a speech on the floor of the U.S. House today to recognize the undefeated 2018 Peach Bowl champions, the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights. In her speech, Murphy called the UCF football team “national champions in her book,” and celebrated the players and coaches for captivating and uniting the university and our central Florida community.
Last month, U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy of Winter Park, Fla., challenged Congressman Mike Rogers of Anniston, Ala., to a friendly bet over the outcome of the 2018 Peach Bowl game between the undefeated University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights and the Auburn University Tigers. Murphy is the representative of Florida’s seventh congressional district—home of UCF—while Rogers represents Alabama’s third congressional district—home of Auburn University. UCF defeated Auburn in a close, hard-fought game.
Tomorrow, Rogers will fulfill his end of the bet by delivering a bucket of Florida oranges to Murphy’s office while carrying a classic UCF football helmet.
