Orlando North, Seminole County Sports Tourism and Corrigan Sports Enterprises, INC are hosting the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Top Recruit Winter Escape field hockey tournament this weekend, January 12-14, 2018. The tournament will take place at the BOOMBAH Sports Complex located in Sanford. More than 90 elite girls field hockey teams from across the United States are expected to participate in this three-day competition, which is expected to generate an estimated 1,800 hotel room nights and an estimated $1.5 million in economic impact.
In conjunction with the tournament, the NFHCA is hosted their annual coach’s convention from January 10-12, 2018 at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary. The convention was projected to generate over 800 room nights and $500,000. In total, the convention and tournament are projected to yield 2,600 room nights and $2 million in economic impact.
“This will be the first large national girl’s field hockey event hosted at the Boombah Sports Complex. The 100-acre BOOMBAH Sports Complex features 15 baseball fields; nine fully-synthetic turf fields and six natural grass fields. Three batting cages, three concession facilities and parking for more than 900 vehicles are also part of this state-of-the-art facility, which opened in May of 2016. The complex has the ability to host not only baseball and softball tournaments, but also football, lacrosse and soccer, and other sports. In the last 20 months, the BOOMBAH Sports Complex has hosted more than 100 events, generating $32 million in economic impact and more than 18,000 hotel room nights for Seminole County.
Corrigan Sports events attract spectators and families from across the United States, generating revenue for hotels, restaurants and attractions.
