Breaking: GOP State Committeewoman Susie Dolan eyeing run for State House

In what would setup a primary contest in a coveted Republican seat, GOP State Committeewoman Susie Dolan is eyeing a run for State House District 28, currently held by Representative Jason Broduer. Rumors began circulating Thursday that Dolan was considering becoming the second Republican in the race.

David Smith was the first contestant in the race and temporarily drew an opponent Chris Anderson who then withdrew his candidacy. If this potential field held, Dolan and Smith would face each other in a Republican Primary in August, with the winner running against uncontested Democrat Lee Mangold in November.

Susie Dolan was elected by Republicans in 2016 as the Seminole GOP State Committeewoman, defeating incumbent committeewoman and current GOP Chair Kathryn Townsend. David Smith had previously lost a primary challenge to Congressman John Mica in 2014.

House District 28 covers eastern Seminole County, including Winter Springs, Geneva and portions of Sanford.
