Republican Mikaela Nix files to run in District 47
Attorney and businesswoman Mikaela Nix has filed to run in District 47, a seat being vacated by Representative Mike Miller, who’s running for Congress.
Nix enters a race that includes Democrat Anna Eskamani and Republican Stockton Reeves. Speaking of Reeves, he raised just $250 in December but has just over $90,000 in his campaign account. He loaned his campaign $90,000 in August of last year.
Eskamani has been a money making machine since getting into the race. Raising $11,570 in December, Eskamani has over $150,000 in campaign donations so far. She’s been active on the campaign trail and elicits a decent amount of media attention as well. While Nix hasn’t raised any money yet because she just filed on the 26th of January, her entrance was enough for Eskamani to send out an email to her supporters.
Telling followers that her campaign is under fire, she writes “[a]nother Republican has filed to run for House District 47 — meaning that there are now two Republicans who wish to challenge me and our movement in November.”
Nix is married and is well-known in professional circles in the city, two traits that some voters will align with maturity.
Will be interesting to see how much Nixraises on her first full report.
