The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office today charged Dennis Mijares Diaz, 29, of Altamonte Springs with attempted first degree premeditated homicide.
Last night, deputies responded to a residence located at 148 Alder Avenue in unincorporated Altamonte Springs in reference to a disturbance. Deputies advised there was a confrontation between Diaz and Isiah Dennis, 32, of Altamonte Springs. Both subjects live at the residence, but neither wished to prosecute and the situation was resolved.
This morning at approximately 10:00 a.m., deputies returned to the residence following a report of a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, they discovered Dennis with a non-life-threatening wound to his shoulder. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Investigators determined that Diaz and Dennis were involved in an ongoing dispute over household expenses. The two were arguing on the south side of the residence this morning when Diaz pulled the trigger on the shotgun he was holding. Several of the pellets from the shotgun shell struck Dennis in the shoulder.
Diaz was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for attempted first degree premeditated homicide and booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. Diaz remains incarcerated with no bond.
