Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Stephen Smith to the Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees.
Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), is a public university located in Fort Myers, Florida, United States, part of unincorporated Lee County. The University, established in 1991, accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award 56 different types of bachelor’s, 25 different master’s, 3 types of doctoral degrees and 11 certificates.
Smith, 66, of Naples, is a former partner and board member of Accenture. He received his bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College and his master’s degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Smith is appointed to fill a vacant seat for a term beginning January 26, 2018, and ending January 6, 2021.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
