On Monday morning, Never Again UCF, a coalition of Marjory Stoneman Douglas alumni attending UCF, Central Florida high school students, and partners in the Orlando community, announced that it will be hosting the “March For Our Lives” sibling march in Orlando. The march will take place on Saturday, March 24th, 2018 at 1pm in Downtown Orlando.
The march will begin with a rally at the North East corner of Lake Eola Park, at the intersection of Robinson and North Eola Drive. After the rally, the march will go from Lake Eola through Downtown Orlando, passing Senator Marco Rubio’s office and City Hall, ending at Pulse Nightclub.
“We invite everyone in the Central Florida region to join students and community leaders as we demand that we put a stop to the massacres by passing common sense gun control reform at the state and federal levels. This march is particularly important to the Orlando community, which was directly affected on June 16th, 2016 with the shooting at Pulse nightclub” said Trevor Wild, an alumni of Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school and Never Again UCF’s co-organizer.
Never Again UCF has been in communication with Orlando Police Department (OPD) and Orlando city officials in an effort to ensure the safety of everyone attending. The coalition is also working to secure parking structures, and information regarding their location will be posted prior to the march. In addition, Lyft will be providing free ridesharing services to and from the march.
Never Again UCF is an organization of students in Central Florida led by Marjory Stoneman Douglas alumni at the University of Central Florida. The organization is working alongside the “Never Again” movement to bring about common sense gun control reforms at a state and national level.
