On the heels of receiving a major endorsement from the Florida Education Association, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham is announcing a statewide tour of roundtables, speaking events and a Workday focused on public education.
“After 20 years of one-party Republican rule, our schools are underfunded and our teachers are overworked. Our students are burdened with never-ending high-stakes tests and parents have been silenced,” Graham said. “Our statewide public education tour will make their voices heard in Tallahassee — and, when I am governor, I will always listen to them.”
Graham kicks off the tour tomorrow with a roundtable in Hillsborough County hosted by the Alliance for Public Schools in Tampa, followed by events in Palm Beach County, Broward County, Miami-Dade County, Duval County and Leon County.
“Starting with Jeb Bush and continuing today under Rick Scott and Richard Corcoran, for 20 years Republican politicians in Tallahassee have attacked our state’s public schools,” Graham said. “As governor, I will take on the for-profit charter schools and testing companies that have turned our public schools into an education industry–– and we’re going to place parents, teachers and local educators back in charge of our public schools.”
