Orange County Comptroller Phil Diamond announced on Monday afternoon that collection of Tourism Development Taxes are up 4.3% from this time one year ago. TDT revenues are taxes charged on visitors to the regions hotels and motels.
The total amount was $21,825,000. Diamond was happy to see the upward moving trend saying “It is good to see that tourist development tax collections increased by almost $900,000 over February 2016. That is two months straight of increases. Let’s hope that will continue over the months to come.”
Tourism Development Taxes have been helped by high profile events like the NFL Pro Bowl. Wrestlemania, which took place Sunday night at Camping World Stadium is also expected to have pumped millions into the region.
