The Young Democrats of Seminole County held their chartering meeting on Thursday night in Longwood, where they also elected a new slate of officers that help to add the club to the successful group of Young Democrat and Young Republican organizations in the area.
About 30 Dems ranging from high school up to young professionals age attended the meeting which included featured speaker, Jacksonville Young Democrats President Kristellys Estanga, who is also running for President of the Florida Young Democrats. The group endorsed Estanga, along with Orlando’s Ali Kurnaz for Vice President in those races which will be determined next month at the statewide gathering in Ybor City.
The group of officers elected include Chelsea Leger as President, Robert Kaplan as Vice President, Delaney Taylor as Secretary, Ben Jenkins as Treasurer, Tiffany Jenkins as Communications Director, Rob Martin as Campaign Director, and Joanna Lewis as Membership Director.
The Seminole County Young Dems will join the Seminole County Young Republicans, as well as the Young Democrats of Orange County and the Orange Count Young Republicans, who have all hosted successful hob nobs, candidate forums, and charity events that have raised thousands for organizations serving the community. They’ve all also played important parts in getting their candidates from the region elected with hundreds of volunteer hours contributed during each election cycle.
