Scott Victory Jobs Jamboree tour rolls through Central Florida

12

Governor Rick Scott was in Lake Mary celebrating with a legion of supporters and elected officials on his Jobs Jamboree Victory tour, to reflect on his hard earned victory in last month’s election and to set the table for the next four years.

The rally/bbq was held at the Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems location just off of I4, just one of the companies in Lake Mary to create jobs during Scott’s first term in office. Flanked by CFO Jeff Atwater and over half a dozen State Legislators and Municipal leaders, Scott took to the podium after being introduced by Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera.

“The election is over, and now it’s time to get back to work. I want everyone to say ‘I want to move to Florida, because I know in Florida, I can get a job. I know in Florida, my children can get a great education. I know in Florida I can live in a safe environment. Those are the 3 most important things we can do for families.”

This was the latest stop on the Jobs Jamboree tour. Other legs include celebrations in Miami, Naples, and Tampa. The BBQs were meant as an alternative to larger more expensive inaugurations.

Lake Mary has seen strong job growth in recent years. In addition to expansion of Mitsubishi/Hitachi, companies like Deloitte, Digital Risk, and Verizon have all chose to make the popular Seminole County City home.

OPO spoke to State Representative Scott Plakon, who’s District 29 seat consists of Lake Mary. Here’s what he had to say about economic success and Rick Scott’s second term..

“This is a great place to have the celebration because within walking distance of here we’ve got 1100 jobs from Verizon, Deloitte is creating another 1000 jobs, all paying over $55,000 a year, what a great place to celebrate the success of the last four years and what to come of the next four years.”

Other elected officials at the event included State Representatives Bob Cortes, Rene Plasencia, Jason Brodeur, Mike Miller, and Seminole County Commissioners Lee Constantine, John Horan, Brenda Carey.
