State Representative Victor Torres (D-Orlando) has been designated as the Deputy Whip for the upcoming 2015 legislative session by Democratic majority leader Rep. Mark Pafford (D-West Palm Beach).
Deputy Whips are responsible for advising members of caucus on bills and issues, and serve as conduits for for information among members and leadership.
“In the Democratic Caucus, policy is a two way street. Not dictated from above.” Pafford said in a memo “I know I can count on these Whips we’re naming today to keep us all informed and ideas flowing frequently”
Torres was reelected for a 2nd term this year without opposition. During his first two sessions, he’s been one of the stronger advocates for more opportunities in education and economic advancement for Hispanic communities, in the State Legislature.
