Bondi's medicaid fraud unit helps catch six for alleged $170K in bad billing

Attorney General Pam Bondi sent out a message to supporters this week saying that her medicaid fraud unit in cooperation with Tallahassee Police and the Leon County Sheriff’s office arrested six individuals for 107K in alleged fraudulent billing…

Her message says the following…

“This week my Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, the Tallahassee Police Department and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office arrested six individuals who worked at a Targeted Case Management Company for allegedly defrauding Medicaid out of more than $170,000. Fraudulent billing is one of the most common forms of Medicaid fraud and according to my Medicaid Fraud Control Unit’s investigation, these defendants submitted falsified claims by improperly billing for mileage, multiplying one trip by the number of recipients at an address and billing for services that never required targeted case management services. The defendants also allegedly did not meet required minimum criteria for providing targeted case management services to their patients.”

All of the members have been recently working with law enforcement to crack down on fraud across the state. Here in Orange County, CFO Jeff Atwater announced the arrest of Mario Ferreri for defrauding clients of over 1 million dollars (story HERE).
