Hillary supporters rally in Downtown Orlando

With her Presidential campaign less than a week old, Hillary Clinton supporters were in mid-election season form this evening in Downtown Orlando, rallying for the likely nominee for the Democratic party.

The event was hosted by the Greater Orlando Team Hillary group, a team of supporters that have been working for the former First Lady, and Secretary of State since 2007. Supporters were registered at the door and given campaign buttons to where and give out.

“The campaign will be coming in soon. We will be coordinating with them when they come into town” said group Organizer Margo Dixon, who along with her Husband Jack, reached out through social media to put the well attended event together. “I knew we’d have a good turnout because Orlando is Hillary Country”

There was also a strong turnout from elected officials and potential future candidates at the rally. State Senator Darren Soto, Orange County Tax Collector Scott Randolph, and former State Representative and likely future candidate for State Senate Linda Stewart were all in attendance and spoke to Hilary supporters.

“We’ve known Hillary several ways” Soto said on the stump “Mother. First Lady. Senator. Soon we’ll know her as the first female President of the United States!” he spoke to OPO at the rally and underlined it’s importance and what it will take to win in 2016. “She won the primary in 2008 here in the state. She’s got a lot of dedicated supporters here. This is about history in the making. You can see here, a lot of people are ready for that to happen.”

Randolph urged the importance of turn out “If we turn our we win. I’ve never seen Democrats win the turnout but lose the election. I’ve never seen that. If we turn out we win.”

Orange County went blue for Barack Obama during both of his Presidential campaigns and Democrats continue to widen the gap in voter registration with Republicans coming in 3rd behind Independents.

“This event was amazing” said Chelsea Daley, President of the UCF College Democrats, who will be working to make sure Hillary’s turnout is there “UCF has 60,000 students. We can determine any election. If we get students out there to vote we can determine this election in 2016.”
