Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer filed his first full fundraising report in his bid for a fifth term, and banked about 31.4K. His donations were mainly large individual donations ($500 or more). The Dyer connected PAC, “Moving Orlando Forward” banked an additional 7K, anchored by a donation by former Speaker of the House Dean Cannon, and his Lobbying Firm Capitol Insights with 1K donations from each. Smart City Telecom donated 5K.
This number is likely to be dwarfed by next month’s haul that will include a haul from Dyer’s first major fundraiser that will take place next week, and will be a packed house full of some of the Mayor’s most loyal supporters.
Dyer is heavily favored to win his fifth term this November. Activist and Talk Show Host Randy Ross announced a run last month but has not filed.
District 2 Commissioner Tony Ortiz had little fundraising activity last month. Nor did his opponent Alex Rivera.
District 4 Commissioner Patty Sheehan banked $1500. Her opponent Aretha Olivarez loaned herself 5K to go along with $1500 in donations.
District 6 Commissioner Sam Ings banked 6K with maximum donations coming from the a local Firefighters Union, and Funspot, where Ings advocated for their new Gatorspot viewing attraction. Data on his opponents, LaWanna Gelzer, Marcus Robinson, or new third challenger Kajuel Washington was not available at the time of publication.
