Former Democratic State Senator Jeremy Ring released a statement on Monday morning saying that Rick Scott’s appointment of former State Lawmaker Jimmy Patronis as Chief Financial Officer of Florida won’t change the focus of his own campaign for CFO next year.
“I’m in this race in order to grow high-paying jobs by transforming and modernizing our state’s economy.” said Ring My goal is simple: I want to bring Silicon Valley to Florida. In the state senate, I worked diligently for 10 years to plant the seeds of an innovation economy right here in Florida, and as your next CFO, I want to bring that project to term through continued investment in innovation on every level — from our universities to the labor market.”
Patronis was appointed by Scott to finish former CFO Jeff Atwater’s term which run through next year. Patronis hasn’t indicated if he’ll run to keep the job next year. Ring is the only candidate to have filed for the contest so far.
“I look forward to a spirited campaign and to continuing to share my vision for our state’s future with voters from Pensacola to Key West.” says Ring in closing.
