Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has sent an Orlando city flag to Charlottesville, to show solidarity and support after a driver ran his car into a group of protestors, killing a woman named Heather Heyer and injuring dozens more.
The flag was signed by Dyer and other members of the Orlando city staff, and marks a new tradition the city started after receiving so much support from around the world after the Pulse nightclub shooting.

Dyer also posted a message on Facebook along with the photo:
Following the Pulse tragedy, we were overwhelmed with the love and support extended from other cities. Since then we have started sending our Orlando flag signed by staff to other cities attacked by violence and hate.Today, as we send this flag to Charlottesville, I am reminded of how in the face of hate, our community responded by uniting together with love, compassion and acceptance. As our country continues to face racism and combat prejudice, I know that our community will not respond with hatred and violence.Instead we’ll continue to show what love and compassion look like.– Buddy Dyer, Mayor
