Rubio staff to host Hurricane Irma recovery centers across Florida next week

Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) office is organizing recovery assistance centers across the state next week to help Floridians in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. The centers will be located in St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Naples, Fort Myers, and Immokalee and will operate as public/private partnerships between federal and state agencies, charitable organizations, and insurance companies.

Rubio’s staff will be present at each of the centers, and among the services offered will be assistance signing up for FEMA benefits. FEMA Application Checklists are online, in both English and Spanish, and should be reviewed beforehand.

Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) has organized representatives from the major property insurance companies to be present at the centers to help policyholders file claims, ask questions, and obtain needed information.

“My office stands ready to assist the people of Florida as they recover and rebuild after the devastation of Hurricane Irma,” said Rubio. “I’ve seen firsthand the damage inflicted across the state, and it is my hope that these assistance centers will bring some relief for Floridians who suffered hardship from the storm. I would also like to thank all of the organizations, companies, and government agencies who are participating in this effort for their willingness and assistance during this difficult time. The people of Florida are resilient and I know that together we will get through these tough times. My office and I are here to help you.”
