Kissimmee, FL – U.S. Rep. Darren Soto (FL-09) announced that the Primary Care Medical Services of Poinciana will receive an additional $300,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support the Title X Family Planning Services Program at Osceola Community Health Services. The funds will help vulnerable populations in the area who rely on affordable, accessible family planning programs.
“The care and services provided at the Primary Care Medical Services of Poinciana are critical for the well-being of our community,” stated Rep. Soto. “I am pleased Poinciana continues to receive federal grants such as this one to support family planning programs, with priority given to those from low income families. It is critical that through this program we expand access to natural family planning methods, infertility services, and care for adolescents. Our office will continue assisting the community with federal grant applications that help improve access to health care for our constituents, especially those in the suburban, rural parts of our district.”
The Title X program serves approximately 4 million clients every year. Grants and contracts awarded under this program fully comply with the statutory program integrity requirements, thereby fulfilling the purpose of Title X, so that more women and men can receive services that help them consider and achieve both their short-term and long-term family planning needs.
