According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Metro Orlando and Tampa areas are among the nation’s fastest-growing metro areas.
Metro Orlando is on a major population upswing. The area in question has grown by over 60,000 residents last year alone. The Tampa area has grown by 51,000 residents since last year.
The only state that grew by more population than Florida last year was Texas.
This large uptick in growth could help propel Florida in getting additional seats in Congress, as well as electors for upcoming presidential races.
Orlando saw the fifth largest increase in population for metro areas in question. About two-thirds of all new arrivals to the state are from outside the 50 states in the United States.
