Call For Trump Impeachment

After Special Counsel Robert Mueller spoke with the media this week, one Central Florida lawmaker is ready for President Trump to be impeached. Congresswoman Val Demings (FL-10) released a statement saying that Trump obstructed justice and that Congress should consider impeaching the President.

Demings has taken a lead position on her disdain for Trump and what she called “a challenging time for our country.” She’s also far out ahead of the leader of House Democrats, Speaker Nancy Pelosi. While Pelosi has said she believes that Trump interfered in Mueller’s investigation, she hasn’t called for him to be impeached.

Neither have Representatives Darren Soto and Stephanie Murphy. Murphy has said that if Trump defies final court orders, impeachment should be considered. She still won’t extend beyond consideration, though.

Soto, the other Central Florida Democrat in Congress, has said that he’s open to the question of impeachment but hasn’t made up his mind.

Two lawmakers aren’t all the way sold on impeaching the President while one is leading the charge on Trump’s supposed obstruction of justice. Demings hasn’t indicated if she’s tried to convince Murphy and Soto of impeaching Trump, but the delegation of the three of them seem to be two against one.

Mueller said in his press conference that he was not allowed to charge the President with a crime as it against federal law. He also said that if the President didn’t commit a crime, he would have said so.

That was enough fodder for Demings but Murphy and Soto remain on the fence. It seems that there is a lot of daylight between the three but that may change if Congress is allowed to read the full unredacted report. If so, then Murphy and Soto may join Demings in her call for Trump to be impeached.
