Sanders Leads in New Hampshire, State Leans Blue in 2020
Winter Springs, FL – Gravis Marketing has released its first 2020 New Hampshire Democratic Primary poll and finds Sen. Bernie Sanders sitting atop the Democratic Primary field with 21% of the vote. Former Vice President Joe Biden took second place with 15% of New Hampshire Democratic primary goers supporting him. Behind Sanders and Biden, Sen. Warren is at 12% respectfully followed by Mayor Buttigieg with 8%, Sen. Kamala Harris at 7%, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard at 5%, Andrew Yang and Tom Steyer each with 4%, and Rep. Julian Castro and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke at 2%. Sen. Gillibrand and all other candidates earned 1% or less in this poll. “It is important to note that Sen. Sanders won the New Hampshire Democratic Primary in 2016,” Doug Kaplan, President of Gravis Marketing stated. “However, it is unlikely that Sen. Sanders will have a repeat of his 2016 performance in the state due to the number of candidates in the race this time.”
President Trump’s viability against some of the frontrunners for the Democratic nomination was tested as well. In a head-to-head matchup against all the Democratic candidates President Trump would lose New Hampshire. Biden would lead Trump 53%-40%, Sanders would beat Trump 51%-41%, Warren leads Trump 49%-44%, meanwhile Buttigieg would defeat Trump 49%-42% in a head-to-head. Sen. Harris would defeat President Trump in the state by a 47%-44% margin. “The last time a Republican Presidential candidate won New Hampshire’s electoral votes was in 2000,” Doug Kaplan reminded, “New Hampshire has always been a competitive state since 1992, however the state wasn’t as close as it was in 2016 since several presidential cycles.”
President Trump’s job approval in New Hampshire stands at 44% approving of the President’s job performance and 54% disapproving. Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s job approval in the state stands at 41% approving of her performance and 49% disapproving.
Senator Shaheen currently has an advantage as she looks to run for a third term. She would defeat many opponents former General Don Bolduc and former State House Speaker Bill O’Brien by 51%-38% and 52%-39% margins. Finally, Gravis Marketing tested where New Hampshire voters stand on the issue of impeaching President Trump, currently 41% of voters support impeaching President Trump. Meanwhile, 59% of the state’s electorate does not want to see President Trump impeached at this time. “These results show that although President Trump is not popular in the state, a sizable portion of voters that disapprove of the President do not want see the impeach process begin,” Doug Kaplan added.
