Forward Florida Announces Andrew Gillum to Campaign in Targeted State Legislative Races in January and February

This January and February Andrew Gillum will be traveling to targeted state legislative districts across Florida. He will be campaigning with candidates and doing targeted voter registration throughout the districts.

In 2018, Gillum carried nine state house districts that sent a Republican to Tallahassee. Heading into 2020 these districts are core targets for Forward Florida, which in November contributed $150,000 to House Victory’s efforts to flip the Florida House.

“I’m thrilled to be supporting fantastic candidates all across Florida and to be working on building lasting Democratic infrastructure in this state,” said Andrew Gillum.

“We flipped House District 103 last year because the voters knew it was time to give a voice to all, and not just some. In 2020, I’m making it known that my seat is taken, and that together, we can flip the Florida House,” said Rep. Cindy Polo. Gillum has endorsed Rep. Polo, along with 20 other progressive Democrats running for the state legislature. “As a leading progressive voice in Florida, Andrew Gillum continues to use his voice to uplift others. I am honored to receive his endorsement because Floridians win when we rally around an inclusive vision.”

“Our campaign is about giving every family a voice in Tallahassee. It is time for our state to make progress on issues that matter to everyday Floridians: from expanding healthcare, to improving our schools, protecting our natural resources, and ensuring everyone has access to economic opportunity. And we must start with organizing: connecting with voters to hear their needs and share our message. That work begins now,” said Kayser Enneking, candidate for State House District 21.

On top of its investment in House Victory, Forward Florida is also making direct investments in individual races to ensure that Democrats are winning in swing seats throughout the state.

Andrew Gillum’s coming campaign travel highlights his commitment to putting boots on the ground in districts where it is going to matter most in 2020 — and reaching the voters who too often do not hear from Democrats.

In November, Forward Florida  and Mayor Gillum passed $1.5 million invested in voter registration and re-engagement. Last month, Forward Florida also announced the milestone of 100,000 voter registrations gathered.
