Two More Hispanic Republican Officials Endorse Dr. Leo Valentin for Congress

Orlando, FL—Today, two more Hispanic Republican community leaders announced their individual endorsements of Dr. Leo Valentin for Congress in Florida’s 7th congressional district: former State Representative Bob Cortes and former State Representative John Quinones.

Bob Cortes served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2014 to 2018 representing the 30th district and on the Longwood City Commission from 2009 to 2014. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he moved to Longwood where he founded two businesses: Cortes Towing Service and Cortrans Shuttle Service.

“I couldn’t be prouder to support Dr. Valentin in this race. He is hands-down the candidate who is best prepared to beat Stephanie Murphy in the general election. Our communities need a representative in Congress who represents and truly understands the diversity of this congressional District and will fight for the needs of the these working families of Central Florida over the Washington DC elites,” said Cortes. “Dr. Valentin has the leadership ability and professional experience to serve our community in this role. He has my full-fledged endorsement and I look forward to working with him once he’s a member of Congress.”

John Quinones served as the first Republican of Puerto Rican descent elected to the Florida House of Representatives and served from 2002 to 2007. In 2009, he ran for the Republican nomination for Florida’s 9th congressional district and currently serves as a member of the Osceola County Commission.

“As a State Representative, I learned exactly what our community is looking for in a leader. Dr. Valentin fits the bill perfectly,” said Quinones. “Dr. Valentin’s commitment to family and conservative principles is exactly what we need in order to bridge the divide that exists in Washington and continues to hurt Florida more every day.”

“I’m humbled to have the support of these two community leaders, especially because they represent so many in the Hispanic community that Stephanie Murphy has taken for granted. The problems facing this community are growing larger every day while our representative in Congress does nothing,” said Valentin. “The response we’ve seen from leaders such as these three from across the entire district has been encouraging, but it also serves as a strong indication that Floridians desperately want a change. They’re signing onto our campaign because of the message that we’ve built our campaign on. As a member of Congress, I look forward to continuing to work with these individuals so that we can finally fix the issues they’re facing in their communities.”

Cortes and Quinones have joined a rapidly growing list of other community leaders who have come out in support of Dr. Valentin, including Former Four-Star Admiral and DHHS Assistant Secretary for Health Joxel Garcia, Lake Mary Commissioner Justin York, and Longwood Mayor Matt Morgan.

Coming off of a successful first quarter of fundraising, Dr. Leo Valentin continues to build unprecedented grassroots support. As the campaign continues to travel throughout the district to recruit support, Dr. Valentin further proves every day that he is the only candidate capable of defeating Stephanie Murphy and delivering on his campaign promises.
