ORLANDO, FL – The International Union of Painters & Allied Trades (IUPAT) District Council 78 has formally endorsed Samuel Vilchez Santiago’s bid for the Florida House, representing House District 48. The IUPAT is among Florida’s preeminent skilled labor unions, specializing in representing the interests of painters, glaziers, drywall installers, and trade show workers.

Wayne Lukash, Government Affairs and Communications Director for the IUPAT noted, “The needs of working families are top priority to the IUPAT. That’s why we are supporting Samuel Vilchez Santiago for Florida HD 48. We have confidence in his ability to be a fierce advocate for our members in Tallahassee and we look forward to working alongside him.”

Vilchez Santiago responded, “I am very grateful to have earned the support of organized labor in this race. The IUPAT’s commitments to fighting for competitive wages, safe employee working conditions, and affordable healthcare plans for all workers are shared by our campaign. These commitments are integral to our plans for empowering working families. With their help, I look forward to fighting alongside them in the Florida House for the issues dearest to the hearts and minds of working-class families throughout the state.”

Vilchez Santiago has also been endorsed by Representative Carlos Guillermo Smith, School Board Member Johanna López and Soil and Water Supervisor and President of the Democratic Black Caucus, Dawn Curtis. He was also recently named a gun sense candidate by Moms Demand Action.
