Do I have your attention?
As you all know the Presidency V Straw Poll and Debate will be Orlando the center of the political universe. This only a few days after Tampa was the political center of the universe but, you get the point. It’s going to be all hands on deck as Presidential candidates do all they can to get on the good side of Florida Republicans.
How exactly do they do that?
None of these candidates are from Florida and only Huntsman has any family ties (Wife is from here). They might have a better idea after the debate in Tampa last week but, there was still an awful lot of booing for an event to determine who everyone is going to unite behind.
Now there is one “magic’ statement, that if uttered by an existing top tier contender could guarantee a Presidency V victory and possibly victory in Florida next November. What is it? Oh you’ll have to wait until the end of the post.
Here are some other things that the candidates could do, to be competitive in next week’s debate on straw poll.
1. Be open to drilling, just not in the Everglades: Michele Bachmann already made this mistake and was told politely by South Florida Congressman and Tea Party Favorite Allen West to shut up. I’m inclined to agree with the Colonel. Drilling in the Everglades is a terrible idea because 1. There might not be any oil there and 2. It’s the dog gone Everglades! It hasn’t even been a year and a half since the oil leak in the gulf. Be aggressive on finding an energy solution but, not while putting the state your debating in at risk.
2. Show some love to the Fair Tax:Orlando has a big Fair Tax following with some very influential figures in leadership positions. I remember a few weeks back, Herman Cain had to approach this subject very carefully during his speech, here in Orlando. He’s pushing his 9-9-9 plan at an event that was hosted by Fair Tax VIPs. Get educated.
3. Study Florida’s Economy:You had better believe some of these candidates are going to rattle off their platform without any consideration of which state their standing in, when they do it. This is a secondary “Magic Statement” for victory in Presidency V.
“We need to get as many visitors to Florida as possible, when other countries visit and spend their hard earned money here, you win, Florida wins, America wins!”
Okay but enough stalling, you read the headline and you want to know what the “Magic Statement” would be for victory for an candidate participating in the Presidency V Debate and straw poll. I’m telling you, this statement will bring the crowd to their feet at the Orange County Convention Center next week. Are you ready? Here it is…
“If selected to be the nominee from the Republican Party, Ladies and Gentlemen the first thing I will do is select a running mate that will deliver victory next November. You all might know him. I will ask the Senator from Florida, Marco Rubio to join us in our mission to take back the White House in 2012!”
Your candidate wants to win, don’t they?
