Democrat David Cox officially launched his Campaign for Florida’s Congressional 6th District earlier this week by opening his campaign office in Daytona Beach.
Cox hopes to defeat incumbent Republican Congressman Ron DeSantis in November.
“While I have been campaigning in Florida’s 6th district since last year, this is a great kick-off for our campaign. We now have a headquarters where volunteers can join our campaign as we take our message to the voters.” He adds “In recent years Washington gridlock has become the norm and I find that very frustrating. Governance should not be about extreme ideology. Governance should be about American people having a shot at the American dream. That’s what I believed growing up”
Extreme ideology could be interpreted as a sideways shot at DeSantis, who in his short time in Washington since winning the new district in 2012, has established himself as one of the most Conservative Republicans in the House.
Cox’s background is in Public Education. He’s currently the Director of Resources at Bethune-Cookman. The 6th Congressional District consists of parts of Volusia and St. Johns Counties.
