A poll conducted by Gravis Marketing, and paid for by supporters of Dr. Dena Grayson, give the Medical Researcher a 20% lead in the talent heavy Democratic primary in the 9th Congressional District. More than half of the field remains undecided.
Grayson garners 31% of the vote, followed by State Senator Darren Soto with 11%, and former Congressional District Director, Susannah Randolph is next with 4%. 54% of the voters remain undecided. The former Dena Minning made national headlines when she married 9th District Congressman Alan Grayson last month. It’s that name ID many experts believe will resonate with voters at the polls.
Doug Kaplan, President of Gravis Marketing believes Grayson’s healthcare background and pledge to help increase social security and medicare for Seniors is playing a major part in her lead and believe she’s the favorite in the nationally watched primary saying “It appears Dr. Grayson is poised to win the Democratic nomination to be that party’s choice in the general election and she is doing it on her own merits”
A poll was also conducted in the Senate race, where Grayson holds a firm lead in his home district over Patrick Murphy in the Democratic primary for Senate by a margin of 46% to 10%, with 8% voting for Pam Keith and 35% undecided.
Kaplan believes it’s Murphy’s past votes on some of the issues that will give him trouble in the weeks leading up to the primary adding “Murphy will have to answer for some of his positions that are not in line with progressives.”
This is the second poll conducted in the District 9 contest. Earlier this year, Soto released a poll giving him the lead in the high profile primary.
The poll was conducted among 554 registred Democrats in the 9th district from the 10th of June to the 13th and has a 4.2% margin of error.
