State Senator Darren Soto released the second ad of his campaign for Congress in Florida’s 9th district. This one focuses on being an advocate for Seniors.
The spot highlights Soto’s plan to protect Social Security and Medicare. It also focuses on his work in the Florida Senate to expose nursing homes that mistreat their residents.
“I think it is important that we protect our seniors who have worked hard and paid into our social security system their entire lives,” said Soto. “If elected to Congress, I will work to preserve our Social Security and Medicare programs because it’s the fair thing to do.”
Earlier in the day, Soto also announced the endorsement of Puerto Rico’s former Lieutenant Governor, Kenneth McClintock, who traveled to District 9 last weekend to make the announcement. During the trip, McClintock attended an interview with Soto at the Univision studio. They also attended several local events, including the grand re-opening of the Poinciana Library and a community barbecue at Kissimmee’s Cypress Reserves.
“Thousands of Puerto Ricans are coming to Central Florida to seek economic opportunity for their families. Now more than ever, we need a representative who will stand up for our people. That person is my friend, Darren Soto.” said McClintock in his announcement.
Soto is running in the talent heavy Democratic primary in the Orange Osceola district to replace incumbent Alan Grayson, who is running for Senate. He faces opposition from Grayson’s former District Director Susannah Randolph, Grayson’s wife, Dr. Dena Grayson, and Businesswoman Valleri Crabtree.
