On Tuesday morning, Gravis Marketing released a poll that gives Orlando Attorney and Medical Marijuana Champion John Morgan an early lead over three of the major possible Republican candidates for Governor in 2018.
In a poll conducted by Gravis for the Orlando Political Observer, Morgan has the edge over Florida CFO Jeff Atwater, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Agriculture Secretary Adam Putnam. However there is a large portion of undecided voters leaving plenty of room for movement.
Morgan leads Atwater by a margin of 41% to 34% with 25% of undecided voters. Atwater has said on several occasions that he’s not interested in seeking higher office, however there have been attempts to draft him into running, first against Bill Nelson in 2012 and once again last year, when Marco Rubio was running for President. It’s likely that if the field underwhelms again, there could be a third attempt.
Bondi actually slips into the double digits against Morgan trailing her medical marijuana adversary by a margin of 45% to 35% with 20% undecided. Bondi has been rumored for a position in the Donald Trump administration but with positions being filled, Drug Czar is the only opening where there could be a place for her.
The most likely challenger fares the best against Morgan, with Putnam polling at 35% to Morgan’s with 39% with 26% undecided. In a recent statement, Morgan jabbed Putnam’s office saying he’d like to see the position abolished.
Morgan also defeats Congressman David Jolly in the poll and 58% of voters polled would support fully legalizing marijuana. Medical Marijuana passed on it’s second try this year with Morgan leading the charge.
Gravis Marketing, conducted the random survey of 3,250 registered voters across the state Florida. The poll was conducted from November 22nd through the 25th and has a margin of error of ±2.3%. Of the voters reached 37% of participants identified as Democrats, 32% were Republican, and 31% were independents.
