The Young Democrats of Orange County have announced that they will be hosting a panel discussion on gun rights later this month in Downtown Orlando. The event comes just days before a legislative session where both parties are attempting to restrict or expand gun rights in the state.
Two of the topics that will be covered will be both Open Carry and Campus Carry with a political all-star bipartisan panel consisting of Central Florida lawmakers and opinion leaders including State Representatives Scott Plakon and Carlos Guillermo Smith, News 13 Political Analyst Michelle Ertel and UCF Professor Barry Mauer. Moderating the discussion will be Television Political Analysts and local Attorneys Earnest DeLoach and Eddie Fernandez.
“We expect a lively discussion and a packed room because of the controversial nature this topic can arise from both sides of the debate,” said Robert Walters, President of the Young Democrats of Orange County. “In Orange County alone, we have lived through Pulse, the recent shootings of police officers, and several scares at the nation’s second largest university, UCF. We think it is important hearing from both sides of the debate, even though Democrats generally are in favor of tighter gun laws, however we want to thank all who are participating in the debate.”
Members from both parties are welcome. Registration HERE is highly encouraged with a strong turnout expected. You can read the event flyer below.
