Rick Scott on hand as Donald Trump signs Veterans Choice bill

Florida Governor Rick Scott was at White House on Thursday, as President Donald Trump signed the Veteran’s Choice Program Extension and Improvement Act.

The bill will continue to allow Veterans that live more than 40 miles away from a VA Health Care Facility to seek care from private sector doctors.

“Let me also welcome my good friend, Florida Governor Rick Scott, a Navy veteran who’s here with us to represent more than a million veterans from the state of Florida.” said President Trump adding “Some people have to travel five hours, eight hours, and they’ll have to do it on a weekly basis, and even worse than that. It’s not going to happen anymore.”

Rick Scott was a vocal supporter of Trump during the Presidential campaign and has met with the President several times since he won the race for the White House last November. Trump was able to turn Florida red en route to his victory. The President has also regularly stayed at his Mar-a-lago estate in South Florida during most of the weekends since taking office.

“My father served in WWII and I proudly served in the United States Navy and I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to our military and our veterans. I was honored to join him today as he signed this important bill for our veterans.” said Scott.
