Following the release of President Trump’s American Infrastructure Initiative today, Adam Putnam issued the following statement in support of his workforce development proposal.
“My number one priority as Governor will be to increase vocational and technical training opportunities in our middle schools and high schools. With the right skills and training, I believe every Floridian can find their piece of the American Dream right here in the Sunshine State. I support President Trump’s investment in our country’s most important asset, its people. His proposal to create training programs for the jobs that are in demand will help more Americans secure good-paying careers.”
Trump’s plan was also immediately and widely slammed by Democrats. Representative Peter DeFazio, of the House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, wrote that the plan “slashes real federal investments and shifts the burden to cash-strapped states, territories and local governments to raise almost all of the funds, encouraging them to sell off our roads, bridges, transit systems and water systems to Wall Street and foreign corporations.”
