Alan Cohn Wins Decisively in Democratic Primary in Florida’s 15th Congressional District

Lakeland, FL — Yesterday, Alan Cohn — who spent three decades getting the truth as an investigative journalist — won the Democratic Primary Election in Florida’s 15th Congressional District. At the time the Decision Desk called the race, Cohn outpaced his primary opponent by eight points.

“I’m so honored to receive the Democratic nomination in the race to represent Florida’s 15th Congressional District, and I’m grateful to everyone who worked so hard for this victory,” said Democratic nominee Alan Cohn. “It’s clear that voters in this community want a representative who will work every day to uncover corruption and take on our biggest challenges, like fixing our broken healthcare system, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, and reviving our economy. The contrast could not be more clear as we move forward against multi-millionaire Scott Franklin, who is bankrolled by drug companies and doesn’t understand what working families are going through right now.”

Cohn continued, “I want to congratulate my primary opponents, Adam Hattersley and Jesse Philippe, in a hard-fought primary campaign focused on the issues that matter to families. During these unprecedented times, I am inspired by the support we’ve received thus far, and I’m confident that we will all come together and emerge victorious in November.”

Cohn now faces Scott Franklin, an out-of-touch, multi-millionaire who doesn’t understand the lives of working people and their everyday challenges. He’s a large investor in drug companies, profits off the high cost of prescription drugs, and can’t be trusted to lower health care costs and not give away billions of taxpayer dollars to corporations.

As the City Commissioner of Lakeland, Franklin actively fought against efforts to stop the spread of the coronavirus by voting against a city-wide mask ordinance — Franklin voted against a city-wide ordinance to wear masks, a proven way to stop the spread of Coronavirus which as infected 580K Floridians and killed 9,757.

FL-15 is now an open seat in the Tampa suburbs that’s rapidly trending blue and only has 765 more registered Republicans than Democrats. FL-15 is now one of the best pick up opportunities for Democrats in the country.
